Throwback Thursday – The Cyborg’s Secret Baby
The Cyborg’s Secret Baby is a nod to the very real life secret baby romances that occurred during WWI, WWII and other early before-communications-improved wars. Couples (or more) would have some fun (grins) right before one or more of them left for war and that fun would have cute little consequences.
I, of course, respect and admire the warriors who left home to fight for their countries. I have as much respect and admiration, however, for the (usually) women who raised their children on their own, not knowing if their warriors would return. They’re heroines and I was thinking of them when I wrote this story.
The Cyborg’s Secret Baby
A fierce cyborg warrior and his curvy human female share a no-longer-so-little secret.
Stealth, a K Model cyborg, knows his passion for Zebrina, the commander’s human daughter, is forbidden, yet he can’t resist the curvy female. He craves her touch, cherishes her sounds of pleasure, would do anything to keep her safe.
When he’s faced with the choice of protecting his fragile human or living to see the next sunrise, he chooses her, always her, sending Zebrina halfway across the universe to safety. He doesn’t realize their stolen moments had consequences neither of them believed possible.
After hearing her warrior died in battle, Zebrina focuses on the last gift he gave her. Doing what is right for their child is her sole priority. She will put their son’s happiness first, even if that means choosing another male over the love of her life.
The Cyborg’s Secret Baby is a STAND-ALONE story loosely connected to the Cyborg Sizzle series.

Why B Free Has A November Release Date
B Free, the fourth Rebel Cyborgs story, has been written and edited and loaded to booksellers. It is releasing in November.
Why is it releasing over a month from now?
Because I need to have the first draft of the next story, Seizing Power, written before B Free releases. That is necessary for my muse. If I don’t have a next story written, I freeze up. The creativity stops. I freak the heck out and then it takes me MUCH longer to write that next story.
Waiting to release a story ironically speeds up my release schedule. (grins) It ensures stories release when I tell you they will release.
Yes, it is strange but writing is a strange activity. And it is different for everyone.

B is the last remaining B Model cyborg. All of his brethren, the beings he trained with, fought with, cared deeply for, have perished.
Or so he believes.

When her mission goes zombie-like beings levels of wrong, she comes face-to-face with a living, breathing B Model. He has big hands, a primitive countenance, and stern hard lips crafted for kissing.
She doesn’t trust him. And she doesn’t have time to indulge her desires.
Their shared enemies are chasing them, would kill to get their precious specimens back. One minor mistake could reduce B and Quinn to a mere line in the databases of history.

B Free And Super Fast Zombies
The Resurrected, the super fast zombie-like beings we first ‘met’ on page in Containing Malice, make an appearance in B Free, the standalone fourth story in the Rebel Cyborgs series (releasing in November).
These aren’t the exact same type of warriors as the ones we met in Containing Malice. There have been some advances in the 10 months. They don’t fall apart as quickly or easily. They are stronger, faster, scarier.
And they likely won’t be the final versions of the Resurrected. They are being tested in B Free and…well…you’ll see what happens. (grins)

People Watching
I recently watched a man walk out of a home improvement store.
He pushed a cart heavily loaded with lumber.
The man’s dark hair was cropped close to his head yet he had a bit of scruff on his chin. He looked like a tough guy with his plain gray t-shirt, ragged blue jeans, black mask and barbed wire tattoo circling one of his huge biceps.
He proceeded to load the wood into the trunk of a brand new black BMW.
After he was done with that task, he returned the cart to the corral, thoroughly disinfected his hands, removed his mask, leaned against the side of the BMW and leisurely smoked a cigarette.
(shakes head)
He was a man of contrasts and I found that…inspiring.

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – September 26th
I took this past week off, spent it with the Dear Wonderful Hubby. I needed to restore my energy levels. I think many of us would benefit from mini holidays, from some time away from…well…everything. We’re living through a fraggin’ pandemic and that does take a toll on us emotionally.
I read so many romance novels this week and it was glorious, a delightful escape. There are some gifted storytellers in this wonderful world. I am grateful for their existence.
This upcoming week, I’ll take another look at Needing Valor, this year’s thank you short story (releasing in December). Then I will send it to my Awesome Editor.

Lucifer And Knowing Your Audience/Readership
Watching the TV show Lucifer has been one of my joys over the past year. I have been re-watching earlier episodes with my Dear Wonderful Hubby. We enjoy the humor and we love that it is so very different.
One of the reasons Lucifer is so very different is because the show’s creators know who their audience is.
Anyone watching a TV show starring the Devil is likely to be tolerant and accepting of a variety of relationship constructs, sexual orientations, adult situations, etc. Having a bisexual character, for example, won’t shock that viewer.
The people involved with Lucifer have known this was their audience since day one and they produce the episodes specifically for this audience. They did this when Lucifer originally played on Fox, a network whose target audience is NOT known for tolerance. They did this after Fox cancelled Lucifer and Netflix picked it up. They stayed true to serving their unique audience and, as a member of this audience, I love this.
I think it is important for writers to know who they’re writing their stories for also. Someone who reads dark romance, for example, is unlikely to have issues with violence on the page. Someone who reads cyborg romance will likely embrace unusual settings.
Knowing our story’s readership frees us to be brave in our choices and that’s super exciting.

Baring Grudge And Friction Within A Group
Some reading buddies were shocked when they found out there was a rebel faction of the cyborgs. Stars. I was shocked also.
But it is logical that there would be. Cyborgs are all individuals. They are half human. They won’t agree on everything.
Power is focused on accommodating the million of warriors who have been freed. These cyborgs are accustomed to action and are now orbiting the Homeland with nothing to do, not processing what to do next. There are a million strong personalities he has to manage.
Cadet is focused on retrieving the cyborgs who were left behind during the rebellion. She sees they are in danger, can’t process why Power hasn’t sent warriors to rescue them.
These two leaders have different priorities and that is causing friction.
It might cause a war.

Throwback Thursday – Warlord Unarmed
Warlord Unarmed is one of my sweeter novel-length stories and is a favorite Cynthia Sax book for some of my reading buddies. There’s violence in the story and there are, of course, some extremely steamy scenes but the relationship between Murad and Gale is gentle.
Murad is the most tech savvy Warlord and he prefers to think before he acts. Gale has been hurt in the past and is super cautious. Together, they are magical. They fit.

Murad, a technology-loving Chamele Warlord, has to track down and eliminate a rogue warrior before that male ends Murad’s reign. Permanently.
When a pieced-together wreck of a ship enters the sector without authorization, Murad assumes it is piloted by an ally of his enemy and decides to blow the battered vessel out of open space.
Then he hears the voice of its sole occupant and his orders and his priorities immediately shift. The captain of the ship is his gerel, the one female he’s genetically compatible with—the light to his darkness, his future, his everything.
He will protect her…even if it costs him his life.
Bounty hunter Gale doesn’t want or need protection. She has entered Chamele space on a rescue mission. A tall, muscular, half-naked barbarian with humor-lit eyes and gentle hands won’t distract her from that purpose, no matter what he tries.
A broken ship and an enemy focused on revenge do interfere with her plans. Gale’s goal changes from saving a friend to saving herself. The only being who can increase her chances of survival is the one Warlord she can’t resist.

Baring Grudge And Mechanical Limbs
Taelyn, the heroine of Baring Grudge, and Jasny, her protégé, both have artificial i.e. purely mechanical arms. They have a vast collection of arms. Some of them are plain and practical. Some of them are fantastical works of art.
There are people here on Earth who are crafting absolutely gorgeous artificial limbs. One of my favorite sites for this is The Alternative Limb Project ( https://thealternativelimbproject.com/ ). It was founded by Sophie de Oliveira Barata and she calls the limbs wearable art pieces. She works with customers to create one-of-a-kind limbs that make them feel beautiful and special.

B Free And B’s Name
Some reading buddies have commented about how it is miraculous that the (believed) last remaining B Model cyborg is named B.
B wasn’t his original name. He called himself Bellicose at first, which was fitting because B, being a cyborg, is always willing to fight. He was manufactured for that primary function.
Cyborgs, however, often refer to their model type when directly addressing others. For example, B might call Grudge C Model. Grudge would call him B Model.
Referring to warriors as their model type isn’t logical when speaking with others. If B called Grudge C Model while talking with Cadet, she wouldn’t know which C Model he was referring to. There are thousands of C Models.
This isn’t the case with B. He is the (believed) last remaining B Model. When anyone refers to a B Model, they are talking about him.
B Model got shortened to B and he gained a new name. B embraces that name, is well aware he now represents all of his model type.

B is the last remaining B Model cyborg. All of his brethren, the beings he trained with, fought with, cared deeply for, have perished.
Or so he believes.
When he intercepts a communication mentioning the existence of one of his kind, he has to investigate its source. The message could be a trap set by his enemies. He’ll take that risk if it secures him the companionship he requires to be fully functional.
What he finds is a daring brown-eyed female who activates all his systems. She proudly proclaims she’s a researcher, brandishing that information like a weapon before her. He wants to kiss the sass off her beautiful face, protect her from the dangers around them, claim her forever.
Quinn is on a quest to locate the mechanics of an early-version cyborg. She believes the information captured within that frame will give her valuable insights into the past.
