One of the challenges Cadet, the leader of the Rebel Cyborgs, faces is communications. She knows warriors loyal to the Cyborg Council and perhaps Power, her nemesis, himself are monitoring cyborg transmission lines.
That means if she wants her presence, her warriors’ presences, and their plans to remain secret, they can’t transmit. Anything.
Every communication is a risk. Other cyborgs can intercept it and attempt to track their locations.
This creates issues. Cadet, for example, can’t simply communicate with the warriors on Mercury Minor, asking them to send pilots to transport the warships. Someone has to fly to the planet and talk to them.
It also means when warriors are on solo missions, like when they chase an explosion-loving thief across the universe, they are truly on their own. They can’t communicate with Cadet or others.
Unless it is an emergency.
