This could be one of Astrid’s ancestors.
Astrid, the heroine of Taking Vengeance, lives on Second Buoir, a small planet. I don’t go into a lot of detail about Second Buoir in the story as Astrid has other things on her mind (the main one being trying to kill Vengeance – grins) so I figured I’d give you a little bit of a history here.
Second Buoir is a terraformed planet. Beings, Astrid refers to them as gods, altered its atmosphere, temperature, surface topography, etc. until the previously inhabitable planet resembled Earth. (With the Humanoid Alliance blowing up inhabitable planets – angry face – terraforming is a must.)
The ‘gods’ stocked the planet with prey, deer-like creatures. Then they brought in predators, HUGE cat-like creatures, to control the prey population (or the prey would reproduce unchecked, eat all of the vegetation and then starve to death). The third large species (of course, there are insects also) they brought in was an entire village of humans. These humans hunted the predators and the predators sometimes killed the humans. The ecosystem was in balance…until the Humanoid Alliance, those bastards, threw the system off.
Astrid’s kinfolk have lived on Second Buoir since Viking times. Their culture has evolved, has been influenced by the ‘gods’ and by other alien cultures, so don’t expect it to be the same as Viking culture but some aspects, like the pride in being a strong and tough warrior, are similar.

Taking Vengeance
The only force stronger than their hate is their love.
Vengeance hates all humans. They killed every being he ever cared about. When the huge C Model cyborg is told he’s genetically compatible with the enemy, he makes it his mission to capture the female and use her to expel all humans from his home planet. Taking Vengeance is Book 12 in the Cyborg Sizzle series and is a STAND-ALONE story.
