The Humanoid Alliance (I always get a kick out of their name because that was a PR stunt, a way to make humanoids feel like they are included. The Humanoid Alliance leadership hates all humanoids.) developed the cyborgs, half man, half machine warriors to fight their battles for them.
Cyborgs, of course, weren’t the first genetically enhanced humanoids they developed. The Humanoid Alliance also spliced human genes with genes of creatures, both Earth-based and alien. They experimented with telepathy and telekinesis. They expanded the power of the mind. They created (impractically) huge beings.
These projects were eventually ended. The Humanoid Alliance believed that the machine-like cyborgs could be more easily controlled. Many of the modified humanoids (looks at Kralj from Dark Thoughts) are a bit wild.
However, some knowledge from these earlier experiments was used with the cyborg project. Science has and always will build on the past. For example, nanohumanics, the ability for cells to repair themselves, were tweaked to create the cyborgs’ nanocybotics. Nanocybotics are more sophisticated but both allow the manufactured being to live possibly forever.
I’m excited to tell the stories of three modified humanoids during the four story Refuge series (the fourth hero, the silver Dracheon warrior, is an alien warrior – he earned his place on Kralj’s team).

Can love redeem a monster?
The Refuge is home to some of the most violent beings in the universe. Kralj, its leader, reigns over the remote outpost with terrifying ease, ruthlessly squashing any rumors of rebellion, killing anyone who breaks his rules. Primitive, deadly, powerful, he’s a monster, scarred both on his face and his soul. He has never met a being he couldn’t control.
Until he meets her.
Dita has one mission—to kill the three targets claiming sanctuary within the Refuge. Or so she claims. For the first time in his long lifespan, Kralj isn’t certain of another being’s intentions. The tiny assassin is immune to his powers, her thoughts unreadable. He can’t predict her movements, can’t control her, can’t stop wanting her.
Dita is rare, as unique as he is, and, to keep the residents of the Refuge safe, Kralj will have to kill her. But first, he’ll touch her, taste her, show her how passionate the beast inside him can be.
Dark Thoughts is a STAND-ALONE SciFi Romance.
The hero might be tall, dark, and scarred but don’t be fooled by his appearance.
He’s truly a monster.
