Interview with Cara Bristol

By Cynthia Sax on March 15, 2016

I sat down (virtually) with Cara Bristol for a short interview. Her latest release is Captured by the Cyborg (Cy-Ops Sci-fi Romance 3), with a scorching hot cyborg hero!

Cynthia Sax: What makes Dale so freakin’ sexy?

Cara Bristol: Dale Homme is a cyborg. Need I say more? Lol. Besides having all the attributes of a cyborg (a rockin’ bod with brains to match), he is a hero in truest sense of the word. He’s willing to do whatever it takes to keep the heroine safe—even if she hates him for it.

Cynthia Sax: What is your favorite line from Captured by the Cyborg?

Cara Bristol: “Dale knew the rules, but he hadn’t gotten where he was by following them.” This is a theme that runs through all the Cy-Ops Sci-fi Romances. I want a hero who takes responsibility, takes a stand, and takes the hit. My cyborgs break the rules to do the right thing.

Cynthia Sax: How does Captured by the Cyborg start?

Cara Bristol: Dale Homme, the cyborg hero, is interviewing job candidates. A beautiful, but mysterious young woman applies for the position. He realizes within minutes of meeting her that everything about her is a lie. Not even her name is real. But he senses she’s in trouble. When the story opens, Dale is wishing for more excitement, that he’d never left the secret cyborg force, Cyber Operations. (Lol, be careful what you wish for…)

Everything in Captured by the Cyborg is linked and means something…the spacecraft he needs to fix (nicknamed Baby because it’s cranky), the heroine’s hair (quite distinctive with some unique qualities), the names of characters and places. That Baby can’t fly is symbolic.

Cynthia Sax: Where does Captured by the Cyborg take place?

Cara Bristol:
Captured by the Cyborg is set underground the moon Deceptio, and it’s my favorite setting of the three Cy-Ops Sci-fi Romances written so far. Nobody leaves or enters Deceptio without Dale’s permission. Including the heroine.

Cynthia Sax: Is Captured by the Cyborg part of a series and will you be writing more stories in this series

Cara Bristol:
Captured with the Cyborg is book 3 of the Cy-Ops Sci-fi Romance series. I do plan others. Carter Aymes, Cy-Ops director, who has a secondary role in all three books will likely be the hero of Book 4, and I expect a book 5 & 6 too. All the Cy-Ops Sci-fi Romances are written to be read as standalones; however, you’ll see characters appear and reappear in the different books. For instance, Dale, the hero of Captured with the Cyborg was introduced as a secondary character in Mated with the Cyborg (book 2).

Cynthia Sax: Thank you, Cara Bristol, for joining us today!

*****************************************************************************

Sometimes the biggest risk is to one’s heart….

An ex-Cyber Operations field agent, Dale Homme has kissed danger and betrayal more times than he cares to count. Now he runs a clandestine factory beneath the surface of the moon Deceptio, where confidentiality and security matter more than anything. When a beautiful young woman arrives seeking a job, Dale knows within minutes she’s lying. Everything about her is false: her past, the people she claims to know, her reason for being on Deceptio. Illumina Smith? Even her name is an alias.

Logic says send her packing. His gut says she’s in trouble. She needs him. So he’ll do anything to keep her safe….even if it means keeping her captive.

Captured by the Cyborg is third in the Cy-Ops Sci-fi Romance series but is written to be read as a stand-alone novella.

Interview With Alison Aimes

By Cynthia Sax on March 8, 2016

I sat down (virtually) with Alison Aimes for a short interview. Her latest release is Trapped: A SciFi Convict Romance (Book One in the Condemned Series)!

Cynthia Sax: What is one thing that excites you, as the writer, about Trapped?

Alison Aimes: I love the raw passion of the story, the heroine’s strength and determination and the hero’s courage and willingness to do whatever it takes to keep the heroine alive. I had so much fun, too, wondering ‘what if?’ with this particular scenario…. What if a woman crashed on a hostile planet? What if that planet was filled with ruthless criminals? What if her only hope for survival was one of the convicts, a hardened man with a questionable past? What would she be willing to do to save herself? What would he be prepared to take? The answers ended up being action-packed and scorching hot. Especially as all those ‘what ifs’ led to a story that begins with a transactional deal for sex in return for protection and a scenario where the hero holds more of the power and control. But exploring how that changes—how a prisoner who’s become more animalistic than man rediscovers his humanity and a woman finds her soul mate on the unlikeliest of places—was pure joy to write.

Cynthia Sax: How does Trapped start?

Alison Aimes: TRAPPED starts on the spacecraft carrying Cadet Bella West and her colleagues to Dragath25. Tensions are running high. The team of scientists and soldiers are nervous and excited about the assignment, a quick search and acquire mission on a part of the planet far from the criminal barracks. Hopes are running high that theirs will finally be the mission to discover the kind of plants that can survive on an Earth that has already lost billions to blight and famine. Until something goes wrong. And the shuttle drops. Leaving Bella and a few injured survivors stranded on a dangerous planet with no food or water, no knowledge of the terrain, and no way to defend themselves against the vicious gangs of roving convicts who control the planet.

The scene provides a sense of Bella’s strength and determination, the stakes for her in joining the mission, and the sheer impossibility of keeping her team alive without some kind of help. Help she finds in an unlikely source: one of Dragath’s own.

Cynthia Sax: Where is Trapped set?

Alison Aimes: Well, as I’ve mentioned above, my story is set on Dragath25, a harsh environment filled with violent criminals, hungry predators and endless rust-colored rock. Yeah, I know. That doesn’t sound too sexy, but it’s that ruthless environment that brings the hero and heroine together. And what’s more? There are secret caves on Dragath25, tiny oases drenched in lush, colorful plants and warm turquoise springs. Fragile places made all the more romantic in contrast to the harshness elsewhere. Want a peek inside one of those caves? Here’s what’s happening in one of those secret caves the first time the hero and heroine are together after they make their deal….

A splash sounded. Powerful ripples washed against her back like a surging tide. He was coming for her.

She whirled and discovered small bubbles on the surface of the water. An inky cloud of red and brown streamed in all directions followed by foamy white. Then a dark head broke the surface and he was standing before her, waist high in the water, a mud man no more.

Her mouth opened on a tiny o.

Without the dirt, dark, thick hair, shorn close to his scalp, was now visible. Along with olive skin, a wide forehead, low brows, firm lips, and a square jaw. Tiny droplets left his long lashes spikey while rivulets of water tracked over chiseled cheekbones down his sculpted chest and abdomen to a small trail of dark hair that snaked from his belly button to disappear into the water. Scars of various length and width tracked across miles of pure, hard muscle.

My God, mud man was a flesh and blood man—an incredibly masculine one. If she’d met him at the Academy or the barracks on Earth, she would have been unable to stop staring. He was that beautiful.

Then his hand shot out and her daze shattered.

With a hiss, she stumbled back.

One dark eyebrow rose. “Here.”

She looked down to see a small white bar in his hand.

“It’s soap.” His tone was brusque. “The drones dump trash from Earth. Use it.”

“Thank you.” It took all her courage to reach out and take the bar from his hand. “I—I’ve never used it before. The Academy only allows lasers for cleaning. The use of water was banned a long time ago.” She stopped short.

Of course, he knew that. He wasn’t from some distant galaxy. He was from Earth. He just wasn’t welcome there anymore.

His lips flat lined. “I’ve been here a while, but not as long as that.”

Was that a joke? His expression offered no clue.

“Of course.” Hands shaking, she took the soap and rubbed it against her arm. The blood stayed put. She rubbed harder.

She hadn’t expected this…this talking. Or the kindness of a bath—with soap. It was confusing.

“You need the water to make it work.” Rough hands reached out and took the soap, dunking it under the water, making that same foamy circle she’d seen before.

“Turn around.” His voice had gone husky again.

That overworked heart of hers started up double time once again. Her feet remained planted where they were.

He waited for longer than she would have expected before he spoke again, his jaw locked tight. “Anything?” It was a reminder. A reproach. A challenge.

And her last chance to change her mind.

Her eyes sunk shut. I can do this. I need to do this.

She whirled around, bracing for a grab. A strike. But the deliberate slow glide of a calloused fingertip down the bumps of her spine slammed through her with more force than any blow.

Cynthia Sax: Is Trapped part of a series and will you be writing more stories in this series?

Alison Aimes:
Yes! It’s a series and I’m super excited about book two, TAKEN. I’m writing it now. It takes place in the depths of Dragath25 where it’s hot, hot, hot! The story reveals what happens to Cadet Ava Davies who vanishes without a trace in TRAPPED.

Here’s the current blurb…. All Cadet Ana Davies wanted after escaping Earth was to discover what happened to her sister and atone for the sins of her past. Now she’s captive within a labor camp deep within Dragath25’s core, a sweltering maze of caves overrun by brutal prisoners-turned-slaves. Her only hope for survival? A man from her past with his own reasons for wanting her dead.

Two years ago, ex-soldier Hunter Valdus lusted after a woman who betrayed him, landing him in a hell he and his men have been struggling to survive ever since. Now she’s landed back in his clutches. Better still, she just might be the key to his crew’s escape and his redemption. And all he has to do is keep her alive and at a distance until he can use her for his own dark purposes.

But raw, blood-pounding need is a potent force. Forgiveness and love even stronger. And even the best-laid plans can be laid to waste, especially on Dragath25.

After that, I’ve got plans—big plans—for Book 3 and 4. I can’t wait!!!

Cynthia Sax: Thank you, Alison Aimes, for joining us today!

Interview With Renee Rose

By Cynthia Sax on February 10, 2016

I sat down (virtually) with Renee Rose for a short interview. Renee Rose is part of the super sexy boxed set, Bound, Spanked and Loved: Fourteen Kinky Valentine’s Day Stories!

Cynthia Sax: What makes your heroes so freakin’ sexy?

Renee Rose: For this box set, I wrote my first menage. One of the hottest things about a menage, especially one with two doms, is that you can include lots of dialogue with the two doms discussing what to do with their captive sub. It adds to the objectification of the submissive, and builds excitement as they discuss what to do with her. It also creates sweet moments, when they discuss that she’s had too much, or that she needs some tender aftercare. 🙂

Cynthia Sax: Where did you get the idea for Theirs to Punish?

Renee Rose: I was reading a YA heist story with my 10-year-old, and of course, everything turns dirty in my filthy imagination!! 🙂

Cynthia Sax: How does Theirs To Punish start?

Renee Rose: My story begins with the heroine dropping from the air ducts into one of the hero’s rooms to steal a necklace from his safe. Both the heroine and the hero are trained in martial arts, so there’s a lovely tussle that leaves them both aroused (and of course, leaves the heroine pinned the floor at his mercy!).

Cynthia Sax: Where is Theirs To Punish set?

Renee Rose:
My story is set in a high-class casino, which is owned by the Jamison twins, my two dominant heroes. While the characters don’t actually spend that much time out on the floor of the casino, it makes for an exciting setting, in that things can happen at all times of day and night (no one sleeps in Vegas!). No one bats an eye at seeing a young woman dressed in a submissive’s collar, either.

Taking the Human by Trent Evans ~ For Lukanos, a muscle bound, seven foot tall alien, abducting the beautiful human female was the easy part. Winning her heart–and not breaking his own–was something else entirely.

Sweet Birdie Blue by Alta Hensley ~ Rem Langston has no choice but to save the feisty Birdie Bluebell, whether she wants saving or not. Their icy beginning soon turns to a passion hot enough to melt the blizzard outside, but will Birdie accept Rem into her heart?

Interview With Cara Bristol

By Cynthia Sax on January 7, 2016

I sat down (virtually) with Cara Bristol for a short interview. Her latest release is Mated with the Cyborg (Cy-Ops Sci-fi Romance 2), with a sexy cyborg hero!

Cynthia Sax: What is one thing that excites you about Mated with the Cyborg?

Cara Bristol: Excite, scare. Potato, potahto. Lol. I took some big risks with this story and the series overall by making the villains religious terrorists. As you know, religion is a touchy topic that is best avoided in polite company. I pretty much run into it head-on in Mated with the Cyborg. But be clear: it’s an erotic sci-fi romance.

Cynthia Sax: Where did you get the idea for Mated with the Cyborg?

Cara Bristol: First, I fell in love with cyborgs because they’re the ultimate alpha males—so who better to save the world, or in this case, the galaxy? My cyborgs are cyberoperatives, spies working for a covert paramilitary organization fighting to save the galaxy from terrorism. The terrorism part was inspired by present day threats.

In Mated with the Cyborg I wanted to put the hero in a precarious spot where he finds himself attracted to the enemy. Mariska, the heroine, is the daughter of the villain. Her people (Lamis-Odg) are the ones the galaxy is fighting against, but she herself is innocent of any wrongdoing. Her father is a terrorist; she is not.

Cynthia Sax: How does Mated with the Cyborg start?

Cara Bristol: Kai, my cyborg hero, goes undercover as an android on the enemy’s space station to gather intel on the terrorists. He’s assigned to the general’s daughter. She thinks he’s a spybot who reports her actions back to her father. In the opening scene, her father informs her he’s sending her to become the concubine mate of alien. Kai realizes that will lead to her death. He wants to save her, but can’t abandon his greater mission.

Cynthia Sax: Does someone in Mated with the Cyborg have a secret?

Cara Bristol:
The heroine’s father wants her dead with a capital D. Why he wants to kill her is a big secret. Also, early on, she is veiled because she has a facial deformity. I think readers will be surprised when they see her through Kai’s eyes. It’s the “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” thing.

Cynthia Sax: Thank you, Cara Bristol, for joining us today!

Cara Bristol’s Website: http://www.carabristol.com

*****************************************************************************

Kai Andros’s orders were simple. Get in. Gather the intel on the terrorist organization. Get out. Then he met her. Mariska. Beautiful. Innocent. Ignorant of her father’s atrocities. And marked for death. His orders said nothing about saving her. But he did. He went off-mission. Can a rogue cyborg outrun both Cyber Operations and the terrorists to save the woman he loves? Mated with the Cyborg is an action-packed erotic sci-fi romance between a man with a mission and a woman with a secret that jeopardizes their lives and the fate of the galaxy.

Interview With J.K. Coi

By Cynthia Sax on December 7, 2015

I sat down (virtually) with J.K. Coi for a short interview. J.K. Coi’s latest release is Protecting his Ass(ets), a Contemporary Romance.

Cynthia Sax: What makes Steve, the hero, absolutely lickable?

J.K. Coi: Steve Nolan is completely comfortable with April as his bodyguard, and that makes him really sexy. I love the fact that he has no problem asserting his own masculinity without diminishing any of April’s significant strength. He can let her be his bodyguard and acknowledge her intelligence and experience without feeling threatened by it, mostly because he knows where his own gifts and talents lie and he’s confident in himself.

Cynthia Sax: What is one thing that makes you super excited about Protecting his Ass(ets) release?

J.K. Coi: I’ve been excited for this story ever since meeting Steve in Ben’s book, IN BED WITH THE COMPETITION. He was a horrible, smart-ass flirt, but there were depths to him that I was eager to explore, and he turned out to have more going for him than even I had originally imagined.

Cynthia Sax: What is your favorite line from Protecting his Ass(ets)?

J.K. Coi: It’s a little more than a one liner, but I like the exchange between April and Steve so much and this is a great example of it.

“Wait!” she cried. “Don’t you dare ruin those pants.”
He paused and grinned at her. “I have others.”
“No you don’t,” she reminded him, looking back into the pantry. “Not unless you think your devastating smile is enough to keep people from noticing that your clothes have all been slashed to ribbons.” She scooted to grab a roll of paper towels from the bottom shelf.
He grinned. “You think my smile is devastating?”
Heat bloomed up to her forehead. “I think you know exactly what you do with your smile, and it’s all very calculated.”
“Shit. My secret’s out.” His grin only widened.

Cynthia Sax: What creates conflict between April and Steve?

J.K. Coi:
April and Steve are from very different worlds, and she’s been burned before by the class gap and doesn’t want to let her guard down again. Steve’s learned from experience to keep his true self close to the vest unless he wants his privacy aired to the entire world. Because of it, most people take his flirty, playboy image at face value and don’t get to see the genuine guy with a math geek’s heart that he really is.

Cynthia Sax: Thank you for joining us today, J.K.!

Interview With Lexi Post

By Cynthia Sax on December 2, 2015

I sat down (virtually) with Lexi Post for a short interview. Lexi Post’s latest release is Christmas with Angel, a holiday Contemporary Cowboy Erotic Romance.

Cynthia Sax: Where did you get the idea for Christmas with Angel?

Lexi Post: As usual, I am inspired by the classics and the classic that inspired Christmas with Angel was “The Outcasts of Poker Flat” by Bret Harte. That story focuses on the tainted and the innocent, and the relationship between the two. In my story, I ask the question: Is tainted a spectrum and is it a matter of perspective? I did this by focusing on Cole and Lacey’s conflict and on the former abusive owner of Angel, the rescued horse that Cole gave to Lacey.

Cynthia Sax: How does Christmas with Angel start?

Lexi Post: This story starts with Cole setting up a Christmas bower in the barn so he and Lacey can be alone. This was important to show the steadfast love these two have, and have had, since this book focuses on looking in on Cole and Lacey’s Happily Ever After 🙂 As it turns out, they haven’t had much “alone” time.

After Lacey moved in with Cole and his grandparents, his two cousins, one with a baby, and old Billy from Poker Flat also moved in. Cole and Lacey are building a house on the ranch, but it barely has outside walls. So Cole lines an empty stall with hay and sleeping bags and adds Christmas decorations and a bottle of wine and brings Lacey out there to start their first Christmas together. Let’s just say that it gets a little hot in there, especially for this firefighter cowboy 😉

Cynthia Sax: What causes problems between Cole and Lacey?

Lexi Post: This is a combination of Cole always doing what is right and Lacey being unable to forgive her future mother-in-law. It is Christmas, and as with many couples, the question of where to spend Christmas day becomes a serious issue. Cole expects Lacey to go to his parents’ house for his mother’s annual Christmas dinner party because it’s “the right thing to do.” Lacey isn’t yet ready to forgive Cole’s mother for making him dump her eight years earlier. Lacey would prefer to spend the day at Last Chance because no one else will be on the ranch and they can have some much needed alone time.

Cynthia Sax: Is Christmas with Angel a series and will you be writing more stories in this series?

Lexi Post:
Yes and yes! Christmas with Angel is the first book in the Last Chance series and is actually a sequel to Cowboy’s Match which was book #2 in the Poker Flat series. There will be more books in the Last Chance series including Trace’s Trouble which comes out at the end of this month in a boxed set called Ring in a Cowboy. This series takes place on the Last Chance Ranch, hence the name, but it’s more than that. This is a horse rescue ranch and so it is the “last chance” for a decent life for the horses that are brought there, but it also becomes a last chance for the people who gravitate to it as well. Right now I’m expecting this to be a four book series, but you never know 😉

Cynthia Sax: Thank you for joining us today, Lexi!

Cowboy firefighter, Cole Hatcher, is determined to do what’s right and take his fiancé with him to his mother’s annual holiday dinner party. After all, the two most important ladies in his life need to learn to get along and the sooner the better. Besides, the rest of the family will be there.

Lacey Winters can’t forgive her future mother-in-law for keeping her and Cole apart for eight years. While she loves Cole’s family, including the five they are living with, she wants to spend Christmas alone with Cole on Last Chance Ranch.

But there are worse things brewing than family drama. This Christmas day, nothing goes as planned…for anyone.

Interview With S. Usher Evans

By Cynthia Sax on November 6, 2015

I sat down (virtually) with S. Usher Evans for a short interview. S. Usher Evans’s latest release is Conviction (Razia #3), a Space Opera.

Cynthia Sax: What is one thing that will really excite readers about Conviction?

S. Usher Evans: The Razia Series isn’t your typical space opera in that it’s less about space and wars of humanity and more about the war within one woman’s humanity. Lyssa, otherwise known as the space pirate bounty hunter Razia, is Daddy issues wrapped up in abandonment wrapped up in snark, and topped off with a bit of sass. What I love about writing her is that she is her own worst enemy most of the time, and now that we’re in the third book of the series, we see her begin to apply the lessons of how not to destroy every relationship she makes.

Cynthia Sax: How does Conviction start?

S. Usher Evans: I like to say that the prologue from Double Life sets the scene for the entire series. Lyssa is eleven years old, with her father at the center of a mysterious phenomenon—and religious icon—called Leveman’s Vortex. Her father is a scientist, intent on discovering what makes this place exist, and Lyssa’s just there to be yelled at and be told she’s worthless. Since she learned in temple that the Great Creator is just beyond an arch with a silvery veil, she decides to go ask the Man Himself. The world begins to disintegrate as she learns the truth—she is as bad as her father has been telling her.

That one experience dominates her actions and thought processes throughout the series. The bottom line is: Lyssa does not think she’s worthy of glory, and yet she still pursues it. It’s an interesting dichotomy that is so much fun to write.

Cynthia Sax: What creates problems between Lyssa and Sage?

S. Usher Evans: Double Life and Alliances are extraordinarily light on romance, but that’s mostly because Lyssa’s too squirmy to even get close to anyone. Her long-time best-friend-but-not is Sage Teon, who has known her since she was kidnapped by Tauron Ball, the pirate who eventually became her mentor. Sage’s main problem with Lyssa is that she gets herself into trouble because her ego gets in the way, and he feels an obligation to protect her. Lyssa’s main problem with Sage is that she doesn’t want his help ever.

Sage is an incredibly complex character, one who is fiercely loyal to those he considers his family. He takes a lot of Lyssa’s bull in the first three books, and even through the fourth book, coming in February. But he finally reaches his limit with her, and then Lyssa finally gets what is coming to her.

Cynthia Sax: What advice would you give new writers?

S. Usher Evans:
Everyone has their own path, everyone has their own intentions. The trick to finding happiness is to know what will make you happy. What all that yoga mumbo jumbo means is that you have to decide what you want out of writing (to be published, to create stories, to have those stories read, to make money, etc.) and keep that in mind as you pursue your publication path (self/small press/traditional) and write books.

Cynthia Sax: Thank you for joining us today, S. Usher Evans!

Interview With Harper Miller

By Cynthia Sax on November 5, 2015

I sat down (virtually) with Harper Miller for a short interview. Harper Miller’s latest release is Entwined, an Erotica/Interracial Multicultural Romance/Bisexual Erotica.

Cynthia Sax: What makes your heroes super sexy?

Harper Miller: Simple answer? They’re go-getters. My heroes see something they like in my heroines, and they go after the girl. No mixed signals, no I’m not sure how I feel, no sitting around twiddling their thumbs, they go after their women without hesitation. How great would it be if all men were respectfully aggressive in real life? LOL, another reason I remain single. I think in reality men forget women wish to be courted. I feel as if courting is a thing of the past. My guys communicate effectively, which makes them crazy awesome book boyfriends!

Cynthia Sax: Hmmm… I love go-getter heroes! Is Entwined part of a series and will you be writing more stories in this series?

Harper Miller: Yes, and yes! The Kinky Connect Chronicles is indeed a series, and Entwined is the third book in the series. I have a few more stories on tap that I’d like to write. I can say for certain I won’t beat a dead horse and make this a neverending series. I have a goal I’d like to attain with how many stories I write for the Kinky Connect Chronicles. I always want to keep material fresh and readers engaged.

Cynthia Sax: What is one thing that excites you about Entwined?

Harper Miller: It’s different. In most ménage stories, we tend to see an M/M/F dynamic or an M/M/M dynamic but I can’t say I’ve read many stories where the ladies are the ones who are getting down for the most part. It’s also the first story I’ve written that’s scared me to death and taken me outside of my comfort zone. I read almost all genres and I feel considering our society is quite diverse, wouldn’t it make sense to incorporate diversity into romance reads? All types of folks are having sex… but why do a majority of stories showcase specific genders or specific ethnicities? I wanted to spice things up, so I did. Not all romance and erotica readers are heterosexual or white. Readers cover a wide spectrum of ethnicities and sexual identities. It’s only fair authors highlight that. I’m hoping to do that with this series.

Cynthia Sax: I LOVE diversity in romance characters. What one piece of advice would you give new writers?

Harper Miller:
Stay true to yourself. Figure out what experience you want to give readers and what you want your brand to represent, and stick to it. Things will get rough. You will meet some of the most sweet and kind people who will continually support you, and you will meet some people who will cross your path and try to bring negativity to you door. Don’t let them destroy your inner peace.

Most importantly, write the types of stories you wish to read.

Cynthia Sax: Great advice! Thank you for joining us today, Harper! (big hugs)

After twenty years of devotion to Uncle Sam, I called it quits. I was wired and looking to get into some trouble. Trouble found me all right, in the form of a hot-bodied fox.

Little did I know how much she’d rock my world.

The names are all fake, details have been fudged, but you’ll get the gist of what went down.

You’re getting one hell of a tale. This is my story.

*Disclaimer* This is a novelette. Not a short story, novella, or novel. This story features an F/F/M ménage à trois scenario. If ménage stories are not your cup of tea, and you are easily offended by threesomes and lesbian sex, you should bypass this story. Content is intended for a mature audience, 18+.

Entwined is the third installment in The Kinky Connect Chronicles. The Kinky Connect Chronicles are short erotic stories/novelettes all wrapped up in neat little bows. These stories are standalones. No cliffhangers in the lot!

I sat down (virtually) with Colleen S. Myers for a short interview. It is Colleen S. Myers’s release day today! Woot! Must Remember is a SciFi Romance.

Interview With Lexi Post

By Cynthia Sax on November 1, 2015

I sat down (virtually) with Lexi Post for a short interview. Lexi Post’s latest release is Pleasures of Christmas Past, a holly jolly Paranormal Erotic Romance.

Cynthia Sax: What makes Duncan so freakin’ sexy?

Lexi Post: Where do I begin? I totally fell for Duncan Montgomerie, then again according to the heroine, who hasn’t? First, he’s Scottish but from the late 1700s so he has a lovely old-fashioned Scottish accent. Second, the man is built, barely fitting into his modern day t-shirt and jeans. Third, he has a good heart. Fourth, he is a good friend. Fifth, he will risk all for those he cares about. And in addition, his residence is a castle that has been in the family for six centuries! I just love castles :-} Of course, he “isna’ perfect” as he might say. He’s arrogant, far too sure of himself around the lasses, and has more sexual experience than a man has a right to. He was so much fun to write!

Cynthia Sax: Where did you get the idea for Pleasures of Christmas Past?

Lexi Post: I love this question! I write erotic romances inspired by the classics, so for Pleasures of Christmas Past I used Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. I don’t re-tell the classic, I get inspired by it. My thought on this story was, what if the Spirit was the one who learned something from the visit to the living person? So in my story, instead of a Scrooge I have Holly, a young grieving widow. Instead of Marley, I have her deceased husband, Cameron. And the Spirit of Christmas Past is Jessica Thomas a brand new Spirit Guide out on her first assignment, so she needed a mentor, and who better than Duncan?

Cynthia Sax: Tell us one super exciting thing about Pleasures of Christmas Past?

Lexi Post: As a writer, what I love about this book is the multilayered story. I hope it’s what my readers like as well. Not only do we see Jessica and Duncan’s relationship develop, but we also get to see Holly and Cameron’s story both in present time as widow and spirit and in the past as we witness the scenes the Spirit of Christmas Past brings us to. I didn’t realize what a challenge I had set for myself until I was writing scenes with both Holly and “young Holly” in them along with all the other characters. In addition to this, we get to witness Holly’s growth as well as Jessica’s and Duncan’s and all because Cameron didn’t want his wife to be so heartbroken on her first Christmas without him…or so it appears 😉 I have to say, I have a whole new appreciation for the talent of Charles Dickens!

Cynthia Sax: Is Pleasures of Christmas Past part of a series and will you be writing more stories in this series?

Lexi Post:
Absolutely! This is only the first book in a 4 book series. Holly has just visited her past, and to be true to the classic story, she must visit the present and future as well, plus as far as I’m concerned, she has to have her own happily ever after. But like Holly, we all have to wait until next year for the second story when Desires of Christmas Present is released.

Cynthia Sax: Thank you for joining us today, Lexi!

*****************************************************************************

When present day American social worker Jessica Thomas is assigned her first case as a spirit guide, she’s excited to serve as the Spirit of Christmas Past for her client and prove she knows her profession well. Unfortunately, her mentor, the very hot, very single, and very Scottish Duncan Montgomerie has little faith in her ability and plans to catch her when she falls. As far as she’s concerned, he’s going to be waiting a very long time.

Bachelor Duncan Montgomerie hails from late 18th century Scotland where he enjoyed life to its fullest, something he continues in death. Having been dead a while, he is well equipped to handle the afterlife where time doesn’t exist and phasing is the norm. What has him stymied is his connection to the uptight Jessica and the strange feelings he’s experiencing being around her, even though she refuses to listen to his advice. Duncan needs to figure out what it all means and fast because the rules change after death and the path Jessica is headed down could cost her her soul.
